Proceeds for a good cause
In addition to "ordinary" donations, which are used promptly for human rights and aid projects, our foundation is characterized above all by the possibility of endowments (cash or non-cash assets) to the basic assets. The investment income (rental and interest income), in turn, is used year after year to realize projects for the benefit of people in need. As a founder, you can provide meaningful help during your lifetime and continue to care for people in need after your death.
How you can become a benefactor
- With an endowment into the endowment fund, you increase the foundation's annual income. The bank account specified below is available for your endowment contribution.
Cash and non-cash assets can also be contributed to the foundation's capital by means of a bequest, an inheritance or beneficiary status in a life insurance policy.
- For donors who can do without part of their assets for a longer period of time, a donor loan is an option. You make this available to Hoffnungszeichen interest-free; the proceeds are used for the projects. As the lender, you can specify the term or notice period. In the event of death or at the end of the term, the amount can be transferred to Hoffnungszeichen and used for our work in your name.
Special tax features
The Hoffnungszeichen | Sign of Hope Foundation is recognized by the tax office as a non-profit and charitable organization. Donations and endowments are therefore tax-deductible. Simple donations are recognized as tax-deductible up to a maximum annual amount of 20% of total income. Donations to the assets of our foundation can also be deducted in the year of the donation and in the following nine years up to a total amount of 1 million euros. Your last will and testament in favor of Hoffnungszeichen is exempt from inheritance tax - every euro goes!
